This article will walk you through the steps to restore your backed up data to your new Mac computer. You will need your storage device you used to back up your data, in order to complete this process.
WHERE TO START
Restore your data on Windows:
- Open 'Computer'
- Open 'Local Disk (C:)'
- Open the 'Users' folder
- Open your folder (your.name)
- From your backup source (external hard drive, USB flash drive, or P: drive on the network, Google Drive), right-click on a single folder and select Copy.
- Switch back to your home folder window and right-click on an empty area and select Paste.
- Repeat steps 5-6 as many times as necessary to back up everything you need.
The amount of time that this takes depends on how much data is being restored.
*IMPORTANT* Your new Windows laptop has a relatively small amount of space for storage. For that reason, we are asking that you do not copy your personal data, and only copy up to 20GB of data back to your device as you may run into issues in the future.
